Note: two-year terms; 7 members: 3 HUM (1 graduate faculty); 3 SS (1 graduate faculty), Associate Dean; maximum of 1 representative per department.

The CLAE Curriculum & Standards Committee shall have the authority to review and make recommendations on college-wide curricular issues, program standards, and other related policies. 2.2 The CLAE Curriculum & Standards Committee shall serve as the representative body of CLAE faculty on issues listed in Article 2.1of this charter which extend beyond the individual academic unit. This committee reports to the Executive Board and to the faculty assemble as appropriate. The committee consists of seven members, as follows:

  • Three representatives from Humanities (1 graduate faculty)
  • Three representatives from Social Studies (1 graduate faculty)
  • Associate Dean
  • Note: one representative per department
  • Note: elected for two-year terms
  • Humanities and social science are two-year terms
  • Associate Dean is permanent

General Charges

  1. Process requests for new courses.
  2. Process requests for new programs.
  3. Recommend approvals to the Executive Committee for additional review and recommendation.
  4. Review and make recommendations regarding substantive course and degree program changes, including online course and program transitions. The committee chair determines if such changes rise to the level of needing full review.
  5. Review the attached Roles and Responsibilities for CLAE Committees. Note important dates.
  6. Review the University of Detroit Mercy 2019-2024 Strategic Plan.
  7. Check the webpage for the specific Committee to determine information provided is accurate.
  8. Keep the University community informed of committee activities by providing annual reports to be posted to the shared governance website. The secretary of the committee is responsible for sending these documents to claesg@udmercy.edu
